Fixing Bad Posture With Traction in Boulder, CO

Fixing Bad Posture With Traction | Chiropractor for Posture in Boulder, CO

Hey guys, Dr. Duff here with Dr. Emery. And today we’re going to talk about how we fix posture here in the office.

Forward Head Posture

Now one of the more common postural distortions that we’ve talked about in the past here in the office, and that we’ve seen in society everyday is forward head posture. Now what that can do is put a an enormous amount of stress on your shoulders and your neck, even up all the way to the head. And it also tends to create the shoulder starting to round forward, which creates a hyper kyphosis of your thoracic spine, where there’s too much curvature going this way. Now, over time, when that posture starts to begin, it goes more and more and more forward because of things like gravity and other stresses in life. One of the ways that we can start to undo those types of stresses is by using utilizing spinal rehabilitation, also known as traction.

Spinal Rehabilitation With Traction

So in the traction setup, Dr. Emery is in a standing position here we’ve got some support straps holding her chest back and holding our hips back. And then at the other angle is going to be a forward pole to help open up that specific targeted area of the mid back. And what that’s going to do is that’s going to take this type of posture, start to open up those joints, stretching the muscles and the ligaments around the spine to achieve a more ideal position. Now we just start off with a couple of minutes of this nice and light, and then we’ll start to increase the amount of time so that the muscles and ligaments can stretch around the spine and achieve long lasting correction. When we have subluxations like that in the mid back area, it can cause a lot of different difficulties with things like heart problems, lung problems, digestive difficulties, because of the stress not only does it put on those organs, but the irritation that happens as a result of the nerves that also go to those organs. So sometimes fixing subluxations like this can help recover from things like heart palpitations or fluttering, common cast chest congestion, even infections, bronchitis and pneumonia, as well as digestive difficulties like indigestion, bloating, gassiness, acid reflux.

Those are some of the things that a full spine full body traction can achieve or help with. Well, this is one of the ways that we can achieve fixing posture here in our office and feel free to scroll around and look at other videos that we’ve included, to help other different types of postures as well.
