FAQs

Will an adjustment hurt?

We have treated newborns, infants, grandmas, and grandpas! Patients of all ages have been coming to TCB for many years and always leave feeling happy and healthy.

Our goal is to provide relief with our adjustments. There are many different ways to adjust the spine, and we will give you the care that suits you best and is comfortable for you. Patients who have not had an adjustment for many years or ever in their life can experience soreness the next day, but that is often expected and completely normal. This is only temporary, and that soreness will disappear as soon as your body gets used to it.

Can my spouse come to my appointment with me?

Of course! We encourage our patients to bring their spouse/partner with them so they can be involved in their health decisions and better understand what you are here for. This gives the doctors a chance to explain the condition and care program in detail, so there is no confusion. It is much easier to bring them with you, so you don’t have to do extra work relaying all the amazing information to them later that day!

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Here at TCB, we never want to guess with your health or where to adjust your spine. We understand why a new patient would want to get adjusted on their first visit, especially when you are coming in with a concern you want resolved as soon as possible.

During your first visit, we will conduct a thorough health history and examination. We will collect all of the necessary data and review it carefully to determine the root cause of your condition. The doctors will then create a report of findings and a care program based on your unique condition.

So there are typically no adjustments during the first visit, but once the doctors determine if you qualify for care and they can help your condition, you can schedule a follow-up appointment for an adjustment as soon as the next day.

Does chiropractic treatment require a referral from an MD?

At TCB, we do not require a referral to see our doctors; however, your insurance may have specific referral requirements. You may want to contact your employer’s human resources department—or the insurance plan directly—to determine if referral requirements exist. Most plans allow you just to call and schedule an initial consultation. Here at TCB, we offer a free consultation with one of our doctors, regardless of your insurance.

Is chiropractic treatment appropriate for children?

Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care. Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Injuries like these may cause many symptoms, including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness, or discomfort. Chiropractic care is always adapted to the individual patient. In the case of children, it is very gentle.

Do insurance plans cover chiropractic?

Yes. Chiropractic care is included in most health insurance plans, including major medical plans, workers’ compensation, Medicare, some Medicaid plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans for federal employees, among others. Chiropractic care is also available to active-duty armed forces members at more than 60 military bases and veterans at more than 60 major veterans’ medical facilities.
