Brain Fog and Fatigue Treatment in Boulder Colorado
In western culture, the more technology advances, the busier we become. People are constantly looking for ways they can make their activities more efficient – where they can complete more tasks in less time. Some have resorted to minimizing their sleep in order to get an extra hour or two a day. Others have even tried odd sleep schedules to cut down on the time wasted resting. Not to mention, there are more toxins in our environment than ever which can wreak all sorts of havoc on our bodies. You would think that these are the major causes of fatigue and brain fog in our culture. And although a lack of sleep and environmental toxins/allergies play a huge role in causing these symptoms, the worst and most common cause is largely ignored by most doctors.
Is Forward Head Posture the Cause of Your Fatigue and Brain Fog?
As our culture becomes more and more tech savvy, our postural habits seem to get worse and worse. Have you ever seen someone looking down at their phone or electronic device? Of course. It seems like everywhere you turn, people are looking down at their phones. Not only this, most people have desk jobs where they sit and look at their computers all day.All of these bad posture habits lead to a condition called forward head posture. When you look at a healthy person’s spine, you will see that their ear is aligned over their shoulder – and on an x-ray, there is a nice C-shaped curve from the side. When you constantly look down at your phone, you are permanently eliminating that healthy curvature in your neck. Take a second to have a friend or family member snap a photo of you from the side. Is your ear over your shoulder? If not, you have forward head posture. When your ear is not aligned over your shoulder, the spinal cord gets stretched which can cause tension in your brain stem. This tension leads to a decrease in nerve supply to the cells in the brain. This can become a huge problem for energy production because each brain cell contains thousands of tiny energy factories called mitochondria. When the brain cells are choked off from the proper amount of nerve supply, the mitochondria cannot produce the correct amount of ATP. This will cause brain fog and fatigue among other issues.
