Dr. Terry addresses the root cause of many diseases and what you can do to fix it.
Stress
Stress is something that everybody has experienced at one time or another. A lot of people don’t realize that there are several different types of stress a person can experience:1. Emotional/Relationship Stress – can occur when a person has problems handling personal relationships, work pressure, kids, etc.2. Chemical Stress – occurs when people have chemical abnormalities in their body due to genetics, drugs, alcohol, diet, etc.3. Postural/Physical Stress – can occur through poor postural habits, sports injuries, car wrecks, birth trauma, minor falls/accidents etc.
The Body And Stress
Regardless of what form it takes, the body always deals with stress through the hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis. The hypothalamus and pituitary are two small glands in our brain that control hormone production throughout the body. The hormones that are responsible for the stress response are released and regulated through the hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis.
The Number One Cause Of Disease
Your posture has a huge impact on the function of your hypothalamus pituitary adrenal axis. If we take a look at the spine, a normal and healthy spinal cord is slack and loose in the spinal column. When a person begins to have forward head posture, they increase the distance between the brain stem and the sacrum (base of the spine). This elongation of the cervical spine causes the spinal cord to literally tug on the brain – as well as the hypothalamus and pituitary glands. The tugging on those organs causes dysfunction which hinders the body’s ability to handle stress the way it was designed to. This creates a huge problem because stress begins to act like a destructive pathogen in the body and it becomes the number one cause of disease. Forward head posture has also been linked with poor immune system function, migraines, bone spurs, bulging discs, neck/back pain, and much more.
