What is a bulging disc?
A bulging disc refers to when the disc tissue between two vertebrae protrudes (or bulges) into the spinal column. Rather than going into extreme detail— it is better to simply see what a bulging disc actually looks like. Fig 1 shows two vertebrae with a bulging disc protruding into the spinal column. If the condition continues even longer without treatment, the disc that is bulging will begin to degenerate — which can lead to bone spurs, herniated discs and more. Unfortunately, pain and degeneration are not the only problems that may present themselves. The disc in fig.1 is not only bulging into the spinal column — but is also pinching a nerve. An impinged nerve can potentially cause a host of seemingly unrelated symptoms in the body depending on where it is in the spine. Fig.2 is a diagram showing what parts of the body are controlled and regulated by the different nerves protruding from the spine and the potential negative side effects that can happen when those nerves are being pinched/blocked like the nerve in fig. 1. [/x_custom_headline][x_text]Main stream medicine would say that disc degeneration is a natural result of aging and is not necessarily a sign that anything is wrong with a persons spine. This could not be further from the truth. Bulging discs are — in reality — caused by the misalignment of the vertebrae. Think about an oreo cookie — the two chocolate pieces of the cookie represent the vertebrae and the cream filling represents the disc tissue. If a person were to pinch the two chocolate cookies together on one side, the cream filling would ooze out on the other. The process that leads to a bulging disc is very comparable to the cookie in the analogy. Vertebrae can become misaligned through car accidents (and other trauma), poor postural habits, genetics, and more. A highly effective way to treat a bulging disc is through restoring the proper alignment of the vertebrae. We have proven this with real world x-rays which can be viewed HERE. Dr. Lyle, Dr. Duff, and their staff have created a warm, welcoming, “family” atmosphere where healing happens! Both my husband and I have had chronic, and occasionally acute, back pain for years. We saw chiropractors in the past but they were both painful and ineffective. Since our treatment began at Terry Chiropractic we are feeling, and moving, better than ever. We look forward to our visits and to the love and care we receive.
After one month of coming in for tractions and adjustments my headaches went away– and now after several months of traction with the spine, the curvature in my neck is back in a normal range.
I have the pleasure of seeing Dr. Duff and Dr. Natalie on a regular basis. They are incredible doctors that have helped with not only my back problems but also my knee injury. They take the extra step to X-ray and make sure I am given the exact care I need. I highly recommend TCB for all of your health and wellness needs, and like they say, “to make 2020 your healthiest year yet.”
I am already seeing more clearly– I was having incredible challenges with my vision, with my digestion with my brain function and my energy levels…
