How does chiropractic help?

Look at all the ways Chiropractic care has helped with Cervical Spine, Neck injuries, Colds, Multiple Sclerosis and so much more! When you get your spine aligned there is no telling what other health issues will be healed along the way.

Your neck is packed with all kinds of things: bones (vertebrae), nerves, blood vessels, glands, voicebox (larynx), esophagus (food pipe), trachea (windpipe), muscles, ligaments, tendons and other structures. Your amazing neck balances your heavy head and turns, tilts and bends without damaging its vital occupants.

The standard medical approach to neck pain is often painkillers, muscle relaxers and/or tranquilizers. In some cases, physical therapy, neck pillows, or collars may be prescribed. Interestingly enough, these constitute a tacit endorsement of the chiropractic approach of releasing pressure on the nerves, joints and openings through which the nerves travel. In many cases, chiropractic techniques have saved people from neck or disc surgery. There is even evidence that chiropractic care can reverse osteoarthritis – sometimes previously considered impossible.

“I just want to thank you for helping me and Lilly continue to get well. After having Lilly in 1995 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and by 1997 I was forced to resign from a very long and fulfilling nursing career. By 1999 I was in and out of a wheelchair and just wished one day I could walk again without fatigue.

I started to walk by Jan. of 2000 without a lot of fatigue and noticed a lot of muscle spasms, chronic fatigue and other symptoms that go a long with m.s. fading. I suffered a lot from slouching, neck pain and grinding in my neck. After your assessment in Nov. of 2001 and explanation of our “life line,” mine being interrupted from several car accidents in my early 20’s, I came to the realization that most of the symptoms that I had were coming from my neck not being right. One of the first things I noticed after starting traction and adjustments was kidney pain disappearing that I had for ten years. My sense of direction recovered.

Lilly (my daughter) and I suffered from chronic colds, fever, and flu and since we started our care with you we have been very healthy. I had no idea my neck’s subluxation could be the cause for so many of the problems I’ve had over the past ten years. Lilly and I are sooo much healthier and happier. My energy level has increased and Lilly no longer suffers from chronic sinus inflammation and colds, ear infections, etc…

I now am able to run, lift weights, yoga, cycle, and figure skate again. I feel like God has used you to help people have their health the way he intended. Thank you Doug and thank you Jesus for the healing power you give this man.”

“In October of 2000, I began to experience constant dizziness and imbalance. I was extremely nauseous all of the time. All sights and sounds just made me worse. I was always disoriented. I couldn’t drive, work, watch TV, read, listen to music, and could barely even walk. I’ve always had a hereditary tremor but it became so bad that I could not type or eat in public. I also developed a head tremor. By December, I had lost weight due to the constant nausea and I started experiencing jerky eye movements when I tried to read or was in a place with lots of visual stimuli (such as a store). I had occasional blurred vision and muffled hearing. I could find no relief because even while lying down I felt myself spinning.

At age 29, I went from becoming extremely independent to depending on others for everything from driving, to reading for me, to typing for me, and even going to get groceries for me. I spent much of my time in bed. It took all of my effort to go out or even do chores. This has been the hardest time of my life.

Over the past 3 years, I have persistently sought medical help, but the doctors were unable to diagnose and cure my problem. I had MRI’s, a spinal tap, and dozens of blood tests. I saw a general practitioner, 3 ENT’s, 2 neurologists, and 3 chiropractors. I was put on diets to avoid salt, sugar, and migraine causing foods. I was hospitalized and given many different medications. Some helped a little but all had negative side effects and did not remove my symptoms completely.

During the summer of 2003, I went to Dr. Terry. He took x-rays that showed that my neck was forward and straight, lacking the banana shape. A physician looked at my x-rays and said that it looked like I’d been in a car accident. Dr. Terry’s treatments began to improve my symptoms almost immediately because he used reconstructive therapy and not just adjustments alone, as the other chiropractors had.

I prayed countless prayers everyday for 3 years that God would heal me. Thousands of others around the world were also praying. I felt that I had lost my life. God answered my prayers by introducing me to Dr. Terry, though I have never lived in Colorado and had thought I had tried everything. God chose to heal me through this committed Christian doctor.”

“My office manager, Bob went next door to borrow some “honey” and noticed this young man with a pale, pasty hew of death, curled up in a fetal position on the sofa. The boy’s mom told Bob that Tim was diagnosed with 2 different types of cancer, liver and bone. He had been on chemotherapy and radiation for 5 years. His body was no longer strong enough to handle any more chemo or radiation. The doctor’s gave him 3 weeks to 7 months to live. Thank God, Bob was bold and explained how the nervous system controlled the function of the immune system, so the immune system could recognize, destroy, and kill cancer cells. But, when you have these things called subluxations, which may cause no pain, the nervous system can not properly tell the immune system what to do, then cancer cells and/or virus-bacteria can take over. This made sense to Tim’s mom and she brought him in for an exam and x-rays. Guess what? He had a reverse curve in his neck and he was subluxated.

Well, what do you think Dr. Terry did? If you answered, corrected the subluxations and curve in his neck…you’re right!! 7 months later we took another x-ray of Tim’s neck and the curve had returned to normal – no more subluxations. Tim returned to the hospital and NO CANCER WAS FOUND.

Amazing what getting your subluxations corrected will do for your health.”

“I started going to Dr. Terry two years ago, when I hurt my neck from a fall. My grandma and I were walking in a mall when we heard about Dr. Terry and that’s when we started going. We were going three times a week. After we were going for awhile the treatments would start helping me. I have Cystic Fibrosis. C.F. is a disease that causes me to have lung and digestive problems; I also have a lot of mucus in my lungs. When I get extremely sick I go to the hospital for two weeks. I have had only two hospital trips in two years. When I hurt my neck I had a lot of headaches and now I don’t. Two years ago I was taking nine medications, and now I only take two medications. I don’t miss as much school as I did. I used to get my check-ups every month, now I get them every three months. I can spend the night at houses a lot more. I don’t have to take oxygen like I did. I hurt my foot and Dr. Terry put the ligaments in place. I live with my grandma Juanita. She broke her back in 1985 going downstairs. Juanita was using a walker and wheelchair. She was going to pool therapy. She also had cancer. Now that she and I are both going to Dr. Terry, she is not using a wheelchair or a walker and her cancer is no more. Dr. Terry has helped my grandma and me a lot. We both thank him a lot!”

“Before I began treatment with Dr. Doug Terry, I had experienced 4-5 years of discomfort and pain in my left arm from my neck down to my hand. I had attended many sessions at a rehabilitation center through my workman’s compensation plan with no success. They provided me with exercises to do on my own time which would give me very little relief from this pain. It was termed to be either tendonitis and/or carpal tunnel. I also experienced several treatments from a neurocranial person and again, the relief was for several hours and no more. My arm continued to have shooting pains from my wrist up to my elbow and an intense soreness under my armpit. My neck had been aching for years, at one point so badly that my head would occasionally shake without my being able to control it. When I went through my medical program at work, I was sent to the doctor and told, “you have a stiff neck”. I was given a neck brace and pain killers. I have since learned this is comparable to putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

Finally, I took the advice of my best friend who had been seeing Dr. Terry for chronic headaches and these headaches had ceased. By that time, my arm was so numb and in such pain that I was trying to decide what to do with my life (quit work? sit around the house in pain?). I had been typing with only one hand at work and switched to my right hand to write. I had begun using my right arm for most of my movements in my life although I am uncoordinated with this arm. After the first session with Dr. Terry, I was shocked to find that the searing pain that had been with me every day for 4-5 years was no longer inflicting me. After 4-6 visits, the tiredness in my arm ceased. The aching under my armpit was gone. My neck no longer aches. I am now experiencing the full use of my left arm. I can write again, therefore can type again, and so I do not have to quit my job. I am painting, sewing, everything I enjoy but had stopped due to my misery.

I am so very sorry that I didn’t look into chiropractic work earlier in my life. I was not educated on the sense and intelligence of this practice and its effectual means of providing health to people. My husband, a motorcycle racer, now attends regular sessions with Dr. Terry. He is also the strongest sceptic I know but after attending an informative Thursday evening with the doctor, and after several sessions, his pragmatic thinking, of course, is aligned with the practicalities of chiropractic treatment.

If anyone who has carpal tunnel and neck pain would like to speak with me, I would be happy to talk to you in person. My life has changed thanks to Dr. Terry!”
